Dusty

What’s Not to Like

  • Breed – Chestnut Belgian Cross Gelding – Approximately 10 or 12 years of age
  • Entry Date – 2/2013
  • Type of rescue – Surrendered
  • Reason – Owner did not like him
  • Special needs – None

Shortly after Royal Crown, emaciated from lack of food, was surrendered to Equamore in February of 2013, the owner also surrendered Dusty who was far from underweight. Dusty was in a very small hot-wired pen in front of the house with two other horses. Clearly the alpha or dominant horse of the three, Dusty was getting the majority of the little bit of food they were being fed. The owner just did not like Dusty and thank goodness for that, otherwise he would not be living in the lap of luxury that is now and will for the rest of his life.

Since Dusty has been at the Sanctuary he has been guaranteed permanent foster care by the owner of the mustang named Mister stalled next to Dusty. He has been put into training and is ridden several times a week by one of the volunteers at the Sanctuary and will be showing in his first dressage show in the spring of 2015.
